Overview
The FullForce FRC Calculator determines the required dosage rate of FiberForce synthetic macrofibers as a replacement for traditional steel reinforcement (rebar or welded wire reinforcement) in concrete slabs.
Per ACI 360R-10 Section 3.2.2: Synthetic macrofibers such as FiberForce are recognized and considered a complete replacement of WWR in concrete members that are fully supported for crack-width control due to shrinkage and temperature restraint.
Calculation Methodology
1Yield Strength (fy)
Determined by reinforcement type:
- • Rebar: Default 60,000 psi
- • WWR: Default 65,000 psi
2Area of Steel (As)
Calculated based on reinforcement size and spacing:
Rebar: As = (12" / Spacing) × Abar
WWR: As = (W-number / 100) × (12" / Spacing)
3Reinforcement Ratio (ρ)
Ratio of steel area to concrete section:
ρ = As / (12" × h)
where h = concrete thickness
4Steel Tension Strength (σsteel)
Based on yield stress and reinforcement ratio:
σsteel = ρ × (0.6 × fy)
5FRC Equivalent Strength (fe3)
Convert steel stress to required FRC residual strength:
fe3 = σsteel / 0.37
6Required Fiber Dosage
Determined using fiber-specific trendline data:
Dosage = (fe3 - intercept) / slope
Subject to min/max limits per fiber type
